Machine to machine (M2M) refers to technologies that allow both wireless and wired systems to communicate with other devices of the same type. M2M can include the case of industrial instrumentation - comprising a device (such as a sensor or meter) to capture an event (such as temperature, inventory level, etc.) that is relayed through a network (wireless, wired or hybrid) to an application that translates the captured event into meaningful information. Such communication can be accomplished, either by having a remote network of machines relay information back to a central hub for analysis, which would then be rerouted into a system like a personal computer, or by system of networks that transmits data to personal appliances.

The expansion of IP networks across the world has made it far easier for M2M communication to take place and has lessened the amount of power and time necessary for information to be communicated between machines. These networks also allow an array of new business opportunities and connections between consumers and producers in terms of the products being sold. One major application area of this is monitoring and controlling of the remote sites from a central system. BBIPPL has solutions in this space.


RMACS Consists of Remote Monitoring System (RMS) Hardware & Advanced Warning And Reporting Engine (AWARE) Software.

RMS Monitors field digital & analog parameters, controls & communicates with field equipment (e.g. AC Energy Meters, Solar Charge Controllers, Diesel Generators, etc. ) and transmits all data to a central monitoring station (AWARE).

The RMS works on a communication backbone of GSM/GPRS, CDMA & Ethernet networks, alternatively SMS Messages over GSM/CDMA.

RMS stores the data locally in the absence of GPRS/Ethernet Network and updates to central server once the Network connection is restored.

AWARE collects the field equipment data, stores and produces reports including Analytics.

Brick & Byte has developed Data Concentrator Units intended for data acquisition, transmission and storage of metering data from consumer meters to data center, on request or by push mechanism. The DCU is suited for installation in medium voltage (MV) / low voltage (LV) transformer stations as well as at the customer premises. It has numerous plug-in options for connecting meters at the downstream end (LV Power-line carrier (PLC) modem / Low power Radio modem / Serial RS232/485 port). Cellular modem (GPRS/CDMA/PSTN/WIMAX) and Wide Area Network (via Ethernet/ VSAT) are the options available for upstream communication to central system.

The data concentrator can read meters from pre-loaded and programmable schedules or from spontaneous tasks, initiated by central system.
